Set in Stone Goals

Writing Goals for 2025: Setting These Ones in Stone!

I’ve finally settled on the goals I’d like to accomplish throughout 2025 as a writer. This was after spending the last couple of months weighing my options and adjusting my daily schedule. And I have to say that I’ve sufficiently psyched myself up for this one.

Perhaps the most important thing I’ve changed recently is making my time more fluid. My life is simply too chaotic to stick to a rigid Monday through Friday, 8-to-5 schedule. I get a bit more done now, and I am far less stressed throughout the week.

As long as I keep taking what I want to accomplish seriously, and make time for myself, I should be able to meet a lot of these goals.

That’s why I’m labeling 2025 as the Year of Time.

What are the Writing Goals for 2025?

My writing goals include everything I do for the blogs, books, videos, and clients. Although these are production numbers, the key to making sure I get these done centers around time management.

The ultimate goal for 2025 is to fully utilize a 40-hour work week despite the chaos. As long as I maintain flexibility, I don’t see why I can’t hit a lot of these objectives for the year.

Publish 6 New Posts Per Week

This year, I’m focusing on three of my primary websites. With any luck, I’ll be able to hire some help with two of them while putting more time into WriterSanctuary.com.

I suppose that’ll depend on how much revenue I can generate throughout the year.

WriterSanctuary

As WriterSanctuary.com is my flagship blog, it’s going to get the most content. Besides, writing is who I am. The goal for 2025 is to maintain the minimum of scheduling three posts per week.

That’s something I’ve never done before, to be honest. Sure, there were years when I cranked out quite a bit of content. But the blog has never been on a consistent, long-term schedule. And over the past few months, it has been working extremely well.

To keep up with the content, there are a lot more reviews, tutorials, and listicles planned. Not to mention case studies for marketing methods. It’s going to be quite a busy year for the site.

ColoradoPlays

I’ve been wanting to rebuild one of my dead blogs for quite some time. ColoradoPlays.com seems like a logical choice, especially since I won’t have to contend with the Medic/YMYL update to the Google algorithm. It’s a long story.

Anyway, the goal for 2025 is to maintain a two-per-week schedule. For now, I’ll publish these every Tuesday and Thursday. With any luck, the site will get back to a point where it can donate some decent money to Extra Life, the charity organization I support for Children’s Miracle Network.

This will also be the site that will feature a paid writer periodically. I have a couple of people interested in making a few bucks, so the blog might perform better this year than I anticipate.

Tube Arcanum

Tube Arcanum is a bit of a special case. It’s the new blog I created for a YouTube series. I would like to get back into making those videos, but to do that, I need some content on the blog. In this case, I’m going to start with publishing one article per week.

Not only does it help me grow the blog, but it will also contribute to some of the content on YouTube as well as this website. I’m essentially killing two birds with one stone – fresh new content for one blog and new content ideas for another.

If you’re curious, Tube Arcanum is the site I built to keep track of everything I learn about YouTube. So, it also helps me there as I find all kinds of tools and whatnot to boost the channel.

Revamp 1 Post Per Week

I don’t have a lot of time blocks available throughout the week to cover all of the blogging content. However, I have one set aside to revamp an old article on any of the three I mentioned above. I wish I had more time as updating old content is very effective at boosting impressions and traffic.

Time permitting, I might be able to swing two or three per week. However, that will depend on how quickly I get everything done and how motivated I am after hours. But at least I have one block of time dedicated to an update.

The hardest part is picking which post to revamp. I have a lot of content on two of these sites that need freshening up. Perhaps I’ll alternate each week between WriterSanctuary and ColoradoPlays.

Publish 3 Books

This year, I’m going to push to publish at least three books. I feel like I’m kind of cheating, though, as one of them is just about done already. It should be out in January.

Not to mention that Fury and VII are almost complete as well.

I said this before, though, so I’m not going to try to go beyond publishing the three books. I’m sure I’ll wind up whipping out four or five, but let’s not put the cart before the horse.

Publish 3 New Videos Per Week

As with the blog schedule, I’m trying to get the YouTube channel on the same routine. It’s been a bit tougher as it takes longer to make videos than blog posts.

Now that the channel is making that mad AdSense money (insert sarcasm), I would like to generate a bit more than $30 per week. Of course, that depends on making videos people actually want to watch. And so far, reviews and tutorials are the biggest hit.

Then again, reviews and tutorials are always a hit regardless of the content platform.

Nonetheless, I would like to maintain the regular video schedule of Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Like the blog, this will be the first time the channel has been on a routine schedule for longer than a few months.

More Writing Sprints

Speaking of the YouTube channel, the writing sprints have been exceptionally helpful in writing, editing, and publishing my books. If all goes well, these should be a regular thing Monday through Friday.

Unfortunately, there are going to be times when I won’t be able to get to the writing sprints due to client work that runs too long or another emergency. As I said earlier, my life is too chaotic to really stick to a strict schedule. But I’m still going to give it a try.

Besides, I’ve been extremely productive due to the writing sprints. They will contribute to hitting my goal of publishing three books in 2025.

Attend 3 Events as an Author

I had a lot of fun at Read Between the Stars, and I would love to do more events like that in 2025. However, I’m not going to focus purely on the Denver metro area. I think it would be fun to travel to other events across the country.

The drawback to that, though, is how many books I’d have to sell to make up for the table at the event, a hotel room, and travel expenses. I doubt I would bring in enough to pay for everything.

On the other hand, I could use some of the ad revenue to offset a few of the expenses, especially since it would give me a few pieces of content to create. I suppose we’ll have to see how the year progresses, but no matter what, I’ll be at three shows this year.

How Realistic Are These Goals for Me?

The reason why I am calling 2025 “The Year of Time,” is because I need to work on time management. With everything I have going on and all of the plans I have set in motion, I need to be more focused on my day.

Or, at least more cognizant of the time I use during the week.

Since I am using a more fluid schedule, I need to make up the time I miss on any given day. So, if I miss an hour or two in the middle of the day, I need to make that time up somewhere.

When I say my life is too chaotic to stick to a strict schedule, I’m not exaggerating. Too many things pop up during any given day that takes time away from my projects. So, being able to use the evenings and weekends to make up that time is ideal.

It’s not always chaos that interferes with my day, mind you. A lot of the time, I get in my own way and either take too many breaks away from work or get sucked into weird rabbit holes of YouTube.

Yeah, I’ve developed a few bad habits since 2020. It’s funny, but ever since COVID, things have just been a bit off in the world.

In any case, the goals I have above are nothing that are outside of my control. As long as I can get in some quality time with all of the projects, I should be able to surpass all of my expectations.

That is as long as I keep myself in the right frame of mind to succeed.

What Are Your Writing Goals for 2025?

As with the beginning of last year, I’m feeling pretty good about what is to come. I’m extremely excited to jump into some of the projects I have planned for January, especially when it comes to my books.

And I’m beyond excited to get the gaming blog back to where it was a few years ago.

What projects are you excited to tackle for 2025? Do you have a strong plan of action to make them happen?
