Your Experience May Vary
I need to add a bit of a disclaimer, here.
Every author will have a unique experience when it comes to self-publishing a book. What will work for one person may not work all that well for another. All experts like myself can do is show you how we succeeded. It’ll be up to you to figure out the best methods for your situation.
To succeed as a self-published author, it takes a lot of hard work and determination. This is especially true if you decide to do everything yourself. From writing the first draft to creating an attractive book cover, it all falls on your shoulders. That is unless you hire experts to help you along the way.
If there is one important piece of advice I can give is that you shouldn’t bank on becoming an overnight success. It can take quite a while before you start selling significant copies of your book. In other words, you need to be patient with yourself and your craft.
Marketing is one of the most difficult aspects for any published author. It can take years before you master marketing while working to make a name for yourself.
Don’t give up. You never know when you’ll hit your stride. It could be tomorrow, it could be ten years from now. But eventually, it will happen.
