When I first started writing creative pieces years ago, I was excited to have someone in the family read them. It’s not necessarily that I wanted a critique of my work, but more of the ego boost. Most of the time, friends and family are going to tell you what you want to hear regarding the story. Unfortunately, this can often lead to a hellish snowball for the artist. I’m not saying that family can’t be good critics. However, it will influence their judgement.
I haven’t been able to write as often as I’d like because I have been unbelievably sick the last few days. It’s like a summer cold on steroids. I don’t feel nauseous, but the fever, sinus infection, headache and coughing have made existence quite miserable. I’m feeling a bit better today, but I can already feel that I have been pushing myself a bit far. So, why shouldn’t you write content when you’re sick?
A lot of people have aspirations about being a writer. Whether it’s the fast-paced world of ghostwriting, such as what I do, or it’s developing a great story, being an author can be attractive. However, a lot of us have hangups that will prevent success. What’s worse is that many people can’t identify what’s stopping them from trying. For some, it’s a culmination of several things that play into a lack of effort.
Fitness doesn’t merely stop at keeping yourself trim or in a shape other than round. You mental health is also affected by food and exercise. I’m not just talking about combating depression or anxiety. In fact, the state of your mind can be vital to your success in just about everything you do. Maintaining rationality when the kids are screaming in your ear, keeping your composure while standing in a slow check-out line, and even a writing career can all be affected by your current mentality.
When I first started writing, it was commonplace for me to experience a form of writer’s block. Even on topics that I know a lot about, I still had trouble coming up with something. Then I realized, I was overthinking the project. Now, more than four years later, I started to have the same problem when writing stories on Wattpad. Overthinking anything can easily prevent success. It’s being able to identify when this is happening that can help you fix the problem.
