As you may know, I am constantly on the lookout for better opportunities as a writer. Today, I’m taking a closer look at Constant-Content.com and what it can do for those who enjoy working from home. Although I initially attempted to use this system a couple of years ago, I finally had the time to invest in seeing if this platform is worthwhile.[adrotate banner=”8″]
What Is Constant-Content?
Many systems for ghostwriting online are set up through brokerage platforms. Constant-Content is one of those that has potential to connect you with a wide range of clients. Unlike other systems, though, you’re able to create what ever you wish in the hopes someone will buy the piece from you. Although clients can request certain topics, it seems the majority of the money is made through creating your own post and uploading it to the system.
What Make It So Special?
Most of the writing platforms I’ve come across depend on writing specific subjects for clients. Essentially, a customer will tell you what they need completed. Constant-Content takes it a step further and allows you to upload to a wide variety of topics. Clients can see a brief description of your content and a short sample of the work, which you control. For instance, I only show 40% of the total article. I am thinking about decreasing it, however.
You control how much money you make per piece when uploading it to the system. You can choose between use licenses and full-rights that clients can purchase. A use license can be purchased by several buyers while a full-rights license will give the one person absolute control over the piece. As a result, you could make a huge lump sum if someone decides to buy the entire piece with full-rights licensing.
Key Points
The average sales per word on this platform is significantly higher than those on other systems. For instance, an average 1500 word article could sell for more than $160! In many instances, I’ve seen pieces go between $0.08 and $0.11 per word. This is significantly higher than most other systems on the Internet. If you get into the right niche and create a bunch of engaging quality pieces, you could make an incredible amount of money through Constant-Content.
The system comes complete with a success guide and a user forum so authors can maximize their experience with the platform. I haven’t had a chance to delve too deeply into these areas, but I plan to over the next couple of days. Some of the tools, such as an area displaying the hottest topics, can be quite useful when creating content for the website.
Pros and Cons
Nothing in life is perfect. Although Constant-Content.com has a lot to offer writers, it does have it’s own problems you need to address. However, it may still be a viable method to help you pad your monthly income.
Pros:
- High potential for earnings. You control the sale price.
- You’re able to write for almost any niche you love.
- Basic WYSIWYG editor to submit your work.
- It’s a skill-based system. No need to worry about achieving certain levels to write content.
- When editors reject a piece, the system is designed for easy fixing and resubmission.
Cons:
- Editors can reject your work.
- High competition to sell your work.
- No guarantee of income.
- The WYSIWYG editor is buggy. Headers and spacing don’t always work like you want them to.
- Difficult to make money in the beginning.
Is It Worth the Effort?
I haven’t been using the system long. So far, I haven’t made money with the few pieces I’ve uploaded. Luckily, I still own the rights to the content. If I don’t sell it, I will simply delete them from the Constant-Content account and put them on my own blog.
Unless you have a significant amount of time to spend fine-tuning your content, bio and industry keywords, this may not be the perfect system for you. I am still going to give it a try for a couple of months to see if I can actually make money. If I can figure out a way to boost sales and interest, I will surely post it on Writer Sanctuary.
Although you get to set your price per piece, I am still concerned about how much money can actually be made with Constant-Content. With services like Textbroker, Fiverr and HireWriters, clients can get the same pieces for a fraction of the cost. This means you’ll have to rely on the developers of Constant-Content to attract clients who have deep pockets.
It’s safe to say that I have my doubts as to this being a viable system for ghostwriters to make a significant income. However, it may simply rely on the industry I write for. Perhaps I am just not writing for a popular niche. If you can diversify your interests, it may be something worthwhile. At any rate, it’s a free system to try. I would suggest at least testing the waters for yourself to discover if it’s something you may have interest in.
If you’ve had any luck with this company, feel free to send me a message or comment. I would love to know if anyone has actually made a go of using Constant-Content.
