When first starting out as a freelance writer working from home, I would suggest keeping your day job while testing the waters of being a ghostwriter. Even if you feel that you may excel at writing various forms of content for clients, you could inadvertently put yourself in financial jeopardy. There are a few reasons why you want to maintain your menial job while working from home:
- You’ll increase your income
- You’ll have a chance to see if the writing money will be worth quitting your day job
- It’ll give you a chance to determine if you’ll like ghostwriting
- It’ll protect you from being penniless if you find that you hate writing
- It’ll give you experience once you decide to permanently move to ghostwriting
