On July 19, 2025, I’ll be attending an author event at BrewDog Denver from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. This is a free event, and if you’re in the Denver area, why not stop by for some craft beer and books? Currently, there will be eight of us there to meet in person.
This will be my second outing as an author, well, aside from being on the Worldbuilding 101 panel in January. Although it’s only a three-hour event, I’m looking forward to the experience. Not only do I get to promote myself as a local author, but it gets me out of the house.
Besides, I love downtown Denver.
Why BrewDog for a Book Signing?
I saw someone online ask who would be interested in doing book signings at local breweries. I thought it was a unique idea and felt that it fit quite well with my online branding.
I’m still trying to get Fireball’s attention for a sponsorship.
Apparently, more than 30 authors signed up and the organizer had to pick and choose who goes where. We have an awful lot of breweries in the Denver metro area. And I was selected to go to BrewDog Denver.
I’ve never been there myself, but the pics and information online look pretty amazing. I like craft beer and exploring new areas, so this was a perfect fit.
I don’t know how busy the establishment will be, but it’s a Saturday afternoon during the summer. So, I’m figuring a few people are going to show up for the beer at least.
What Kind of Goodies Will I Take to BrewDog?
I should have Shadows of Atlantic City published before the event. Unfortunately, it takes several weeks to get author copies. So, I doubt I’ll have them in hand before July 19th. I’ll still order some, but maybe I’ll try a lower quantity and cross my fingers they arrive in time.
Otherwise, I’ll have to order a few more copies of A Freelancer’s Tale and then take what I have left of Kingmaker.
I’m also trying to get a few more glasses for the event. I have a few tumblers on Fourthwall for my books, and I would love to design a few more and have them on hand. I mean, we’re at a brewery. Why not sell some drink glasses while I’m there?
Perhaps I can find some products that would accentuate the menu at BrewDog. Well, outside of whisky tumblers, anyway. Perhaps a few tote bags?
In any case, I’m working on a few ideas for some extras, especially if I can figure out the 3D printer. I just wish I had a bit more time to get things designed, organized, ordered, and shipped.
Regardless, my skeleton friend, the Guardian, will be with me, as he is kind of my mascot. He’s in the book and on the cover, after all.
Where is BrewDog Denver Located?
BrewDog Denver is located at 3950 Wynkoop Street. I have the map of BrewDog Denver on MichaelBrockbank.com should you be in the area that weekend.
The brewery is in the RiNo Art District (River North), surrounded by murals, galleries, studios, and restaurants. So, there is a lot to explore should you decide to join us. I know I might wind up making an evening of it exploring the district.
The entire location is often a bustle as there are attractions galore, including the National Western Stock Show just on the other side of I-70.
I Sell More Books at Events Than Online
Because I don’t do a lot of marketing and can’t afford ads, I don’t sell a lot of books online. In fact, I don’t think I’ve sold a single book since February. However, I tend to outperform my expectations when at in-person events.
So far, events such as this have been inspiring, exciting, and confidence-building. If you haven’t attended an event as an author, I highly suggest you start looking. It’s a great experience to meet other authors, meet readers face-to-face, and talk about your books and ideas.
The last time I was at a brewery, though, was when I attended WordCamp Kansas City in 2019. It’s been a while.
In any event, I’m looking forward to attending BrewDog Denver and possibly more in the future. I suppose that really depends on the turnout and how things unfold.
If You’re In the Area, Stop By!
I don’t know if it’s because of the venue or because it’s my second book signing, but I’m pretty stoked about going to BrewDog Denver. If you’re in the area, stop by and hang out with me and seven other authors as we chat about and sign a few books.
It’s a free event. But you might want to bring a few bucks for the food and beer. The entire menu at BrewDog looks amazing!
