On June 30, 2025, I’m joined by Shawn McCarthy for a live interview on After Hours. He has quite a history of publishing books, both fiction and non-fiction, as well as holding a couple of degrees. Plus, he has been working on perfecting the art of writing with a cat perched on his shoulder.
That’s funny to me, considering the first half of my writing career was spent the same way. Cinder never left my shoulder, whether I was playing games on Twitch or hammering out an article for a client on Textbroker.
So, I know the struggle all too well.
Not to mention the moment I start speaking, Shadow has to be on camera. Sometimes I feel like After Hours is her show and I’m just the comic relief.
A Bit About Shawn McCarthy
Shawn began his career in writing while focusing on historical fiction. He used it as a way to understand various eras and the progression of humanity to fuel his stories.
Aside from being an author, Shawn has taught educational technologies and project management at the graduate level while writing business books that are apart from his fictional stories.
Another impressive feat is how Shawn McCarthy has been quoted in major news outlets such as The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Washington Post, and Politico.
The last time I was in a newspaper, it was a photograph of me and my cousin drinking from a water pump at the Weber County Fair Grounds titled, “The Fountain of Youth?” back when I was…eight, maybe nine?
Where Can You Find Shawn’s Books?
You can find books by Shawn McCarthy on Amazon. However, you can also find and buy his books at Barnes & Noble, Waterstones, and other retailers.
Shawn’s most recent book, Local Honey, is currently on pre-order and released on the 27th. So, it should be released by the time we have our interview the following Monday.
I’ll have the QR code in the chyron aiming at Local Honey if you want to buy a copy.
Hope to See You At the Show!
Shawn will be with me live on After Hours on the YouTube channel on Monday, June 30th at 7:00 pm (MTN). The show is also shared on Spotify and other podcast networks, but I’m not sure when the interview will be live. I’m still kind of new to setting up actual podcasts on various platforms.
Nonetheless, you can always catch the show on the YouTube channel regardless of when it’s posted elsewhere.
Bring your questions along and be a part of the experience, and meet a great author. I’m looking forward to having Shawn McCarthy on the show and hope to see you there!
