On Monday, August 25th, Gregory Stout joins me on After Hours for a live interview. He has led quite a career, being retired and writing as part of his day-to-day activities. He’s also involved with the Heartland Writers Guild and has quite a few interests that keep him going.

I only wish to have a fraction of that success once I am able to retire. But let’s face it, the odds of me retiring are slim to none at this point.

Ah, the joys of being a freelance writer.

A Bit About Gregory Stout

Gregory was an executive for 27 years in the automotive industry and spent 12 years as a teacher. He has taught various subjects such as history, language arts, reading, and even Latin in Chicago.

One of his noteworthy achievements as an author, though, comes in the form of winning the Private Eye Writers Shamus Award, one that Mickey Spillane won himself!

Gregory just doesn’t write young adult mysteries, though. He has also published 22 books on the history of the American railroads. According to Gregory’s bio, railroading was in his family. So, it was only natural that he expanded on that background and embraced his heritage.

I tried to do something similar, as my grandfather was in the Air Force as a Staff Seargant. Unfortunately, when I applied, they wouldn’t take me because I didn’t have a high school diploma – a rule they later removed after I was “too old” to join any armed forces.

Eh…it happens.

Where Can You Find Gregory’s Books?

Some of Gregory’s books are available on Amazon. However, to see the entire Jackson Gamble novel set (a four-book series), you have to visit a different Gregory Stout account on Amazon.

This isn’t the first time I’ve seen several author accounts under a single name on the site. It can get confusing, which is yet another reason why I would love a better and more popular site.

Yes, I would love to see an end to the ‘Zon if it meant better treatment and royalty distribution for authors.

It might be easier to follow Gregory Stout on his blog to get updates on upcoming books, to be honest.
