Hello, I’m Michael Brockbank, owner and operator of WriterSanctuary.
I have been a freelance writer and blogger since January 1, 2012. Since then, I have written thousands of articles covering everything from animals to travel. My interests are quite diverse and I enjoy learning new things.
Why Did I Develop WriterSanctuary?
Initially, I started this blog as a way to log my journey as a freelance writer. I started with content mills and have since expanded with private clients and blogs.
My goal is to help shed light on as much as I can regarding freelance writing, blogging, and self-publishing. Provided I ever get my novel finished.
As such, everything I’ve learned and have experienced is here within WriterSanctuary.
As I continue to develop and learn new things, this blog will always be in motion. And I hope to further expand what is offered in the very near future.
My Ultimate Goal as a Writer
Eventually, I’d love to either work on my blogs full-time or publish a few of my own books in order to pay the bills. I don’t necessarily want to be rich, but being able to keep bill collectors at bay is a nice purpose.
One of my goals is to have at least one book on my shelf in my library with my name as the author.
I love writing about various topics. As a result, I manage several blogs while trying to put effort into my creative writing on Wattpad. I have a few others that need some work, but WriterSanctuary, Practically Living Green, Colorado Plays, and Crossing Colorado are my focus projects.
One of the things which drives me to continue blogging is being able to help others. Whether it’s freelance writing, health and fitness, or gaming, managing the sites is worth the time if just one person finds value in the content.
Another reason I enjoy blogging is that it gives me a way to see something I created available to anyone who wants to read the material.
And it’s pretty cool to see just how deep my name goes in Google search.
The YouTube Channel
I originally set up the WriterSanctuary YouTube channel to accentuate the blog posts. This way, people could either read or watch the content from my website.
Since then, however, it has developed into its own monster. Although some traffic is shared back and forth between the blog and the channel, both have their distinctive audience.
I’m excited to see what it turns into over the coming years.
I started actually writing on Wattpad in 2016. I decided that I wanted more out of writing and needed to add more creativity to my life. So far, I have completed a few pieces and plan on uploading a lot more in the future.
Even though I don’t get paid for these pieces, it’s still an incredible experience. This is especially true since I get to see my name in print alongside many other authors.
Eventually, I would like to move the rough drafts from Wattpad and into their own books. But, like I said before, I would have to finish one first.
I’m hoping to get more time in the near future to work on my creative pieces.

Make sure you select the topic of the message from the drop-down box. I usually respond relatively quickly. Of course, it also depends on the time of day.
