Today I wrote my 1,000 completed order since I started January 1, of 2012. In retrospect, that’s only 2.3 orders per day. Of course, I really didn’t start concentrating on writing until June of last year. My next goal is to hit 2000 before the year ends. That’s going to be a lot of writing. If I can stick to my personal daily goals, it should be no problem.
I have learned a lot in the past 434 days. My writing has improved exponentially and I am now a steady level 4 on Textbroker. Not too bad for a GED toting college dropout, eh? I think I found my calling, though. And it’s not just writing for Textbroker and WriterAccess. I truly love to write. I have been trying to get more content on my personal websites, which have began to grow in traffic again. I am also planning on finishing the novel I am writing to be placed on Wattpad. This is going to be a good year, I can feel it.
Now for the bad news. I haven’t been as productive as I would’ve liked. I have been busy with getting the house straightened up and getting stuff into storage. And it doesn’t help when I am home at the same time my wife is. I enjoy her company and it makes writing difficult as she is a distraction. We have a plan to incorporate Adwords to sell affiliate marketing goods again and I have hopes that the proceeds will allow me to rent an office space somewhere in town where I will be void of the distractions of home.
My advise to anyone reading these journal entries – and by the looks of the hit counter there aren’t many – is to keep on it and don’t give up. There is a lot of money to be made as a freelance writer and there is always plenty of work for you whether you are on Textbroker or not. Learn everything you can and take criticism as a learning experience. As long as you put your mind to the task, you can accomplish the same feats I have. I work from home writing at my leisure – as long as the clients are happy – and have free time to do the things I haven’t been able to do in years. It’s a nice change of pace. I am not some salesman trying to talk you into anything. I am a real person with children, bills, and a mortgage payment. But this year, I have a good chance of becoming more than I am. And so could you.
