As the new year kicks off right, I have immersed myself in writing. A day or two after the new year began I achieved level 4 at TextBroker – for the second time. Things are looking good and I have already made more money writing than I did when the year started in 2012. I just need to keep the momentum going.
The first time I was level 4, I was so excited that I didn’t proofread as well as I should have. I have a problem with using commas correctly. I was reviewed just days after receiving level 4 and was knocked back down to level 3. Once you are level 3, it could take months before you are reviewed again. As I have been working hard to learn improved sentence structure, I earned my way back into the good graces of the editors.
Now that I am level 4, there is a ton of work I could be doing for more money. Although I want to make sure my regular clients are taken care of first, it’s nice to know that the chances of running out of stuff to write is pretty low. Most work available for freelancers on TextBroker is the Level 4 category of writers.
In order to keep level 4, I need to be vigilant on proofreading and continuing my collective knowledge of writing. I don’t want to lose my level again as it may take months to get it back. I’m not saying that there is anything wrong with level 3 work, but the money made from level 4 projects pays 40% more. This would mean that if I am making $10 per hour writing for level 3, I now make $14 per hour for level 4. That is quite a jump in pay. However, my regular clients pay just slightly higher than what I am able to make now. Having the additional 40% increase in money just means that my averages will stabilize a bit better for a more consistent payday.
As of right now, I am averaging $14.70 per hour. This really doesn’t show how much money I actually make, however. In the last eight days I have spent a few hours working on grueling projects that hurt my average. For instance, this morning I was writing content that was paying me $22 per hour. My pay per hour probably won’t be very accurate until the end of the month which will give a more clear spectrum of all the different content I’ll be writing in January.
If you think about it, $14.70 per hour really isn’t that bad given the location I am in. I live in a semi-rural area where most jobs are between $8 and $10 per hour. The money I am making with my writing is paying all of our bills and getting us out of a hole that was dug prior to investing time in freelancing.
